Behavioral Health
Behavioral health is central to whole-person care, and is a core component of advanced primary care. Mental health and substance use concerns shape patients’ physical health, quality of life and ability to thrive. When behavioral health is integrated into primary care, care teams can identify needs earlier and coordinate care more effectively. This enables timely support, expands access, improves outcomes and advances health equity for patients and their families.
CQC’s Behavioral Health Integration Initiative accelerates statewide transformation by advancing evidence-based models, aligning incentives and strengthening primary care teams’ capacity to deliver equitable advanced primary care that includes behavioral health for all Californians.
