California Health Care Foundation Report Highlights Multi-Payer Alignment to Advance Primary Care Investment
The California Health Care Foundation’s report, Strengthening California’s Primary Care Team Workforce: Data and Recommendations for Action, highlights the need for increased investment in primary care and broader adoption of value-based payment models to support workforce sustainability and strengthen care delivery across California.
The report highlights the California Advanced Primary Care Initiative, led by CQC and the Integrated Healthcare Association, as an example of how multi-payer alignment can help advance these priorities through standardized reporting, performance-based payment and increased primary care investment without raising total cost of care.
It also references progress through the initiative’s Payment Model Demonstration Project, which is helping participating health plans and providers operationalize aligned payment approaches and shared expectations across the delivery system.
Through this work, CQC is helping reduce variation, align incentives and translate multi-payer alignment into measurable system improvement across California primary care.
